Phantom Blade Zero has been delayed 50 days to October 29, avoiding a crowded September and landing just before GTA 6.
Chinese developer S-GAME has delayed Phantom Blade Zero by 50 days, pushing its release from the original September 9 date to October 29, 2026. The new launch window places the game just three weeks before the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, which is expected to debut on November 19. The delay was announced alongside a teaser trailer during a recent State of Play event, with a full dedicated reveal scheduled for later this summer.
Phantom Blade Zero Delayed to Avoid September Rush, Now Competes With GTA 6
The 50-day delay allows Phantom Blade Zero to avoid what many are calling a “bloodbath” of game releases in September 2026, as developers attempt to steer attention away from Rockstar’s GTA 6. However, the new October 29 date means the game will still face stiff competition from GTA 6, which is expected to dominate the market in late November.
S-GAME CEO Soulframe Liang explained the delay in a recent tweet, stating that the team wanted to refine key elements of the game, including character models and environments, to deliver a more polished experience. While the delay won’t resolve every issue, it will allow for meaningful improvements that directly impact the player experience.
Confirmed Delay, Uncertain Tech Support and Launch Window
The delay is confirmed, but some details remain speculative. For example, Phantom Blade Zero was initially expected to support NVIDIA DLSS 5 at launch, but Soulframe Liang recently hinted that this may no longer be the case. He did not explicitly confirm or deny the technology’s inclusion, leaving the feature in question.
The game’s October 29 launch date is now set, but the absence of DLSS 5 could affect performance and visual fidelity for PC players. This uncertainty may influence how FiveM developers and GTA RP communities evaluate the game for potential modding or thematic inspiration.
